Police have announced a R150,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of Jabulani Moyo, the prime suspect in the fatal shooting of two Johannesburg police officers.

Double Police Murder Sparks Manhunt

The South African Police Service (SAPS) is offering a R150,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of Jabulani Moyo, wanted for the fatal shooting of two officers in Johannesburg on Friday. The victims have been identified as:

  • Constable Vuyisile sentwa, 51
  • Sergeant Simon Masenye, 45

cousin of one of the officers , Sammy Kwedashe, recounted discovering the tragedy through media reports:
"I heard on Radio 2000 that two officers were shot... It didn’t click that it could be my cousin until 4 PM."

Critical Security Lapses Revealed

Police recovered leg irons from the vehicle used to transport Moyo, exposing protocol violations. National Police Commissioner General Fannie Masemola emphasized:

  • "Awaiting-trial prisoners must be restrained with leg and hand cuffs in the back of vans."
  • "This suspect is extremely dangerous—do not approach him. Call police immediately."

Masemola issued a stark warning to officers:
"You’re trained and armed. Use your firearm when your life is threatened. We cannot afford to lose more members."
